Public Art

Arts!Longview is committed to enhancing our 343-acre Cultural District through the installation of public art projects that celebrate our creative identity.

Colorful Lady

The artwork for the Colorful Lady installation is the original screen print of the same name by the late artist Jason Butler. The center mural in the triptych is a reproduction of Butler’s original screen print. The left and right murals were color manipulated by Holly Forbes, Butler’s partner at Forbes & Butler Visual Communication, to create an Andy Warhol-like effect. Each mural is 17 feet tall by 17 feet wide.

Enjoy the View

Designed by the late Jason Butler and painted by Jamie Robinson, the Enjoy the View mural was a collaboration between Arts!Longview and Downtown Longview to celebrate the city and the beauty of downtown.

Unity Mural

The Unity Mural, which was painted by Dace Kidd, pays tribute to the late artist Anup Bhandari. Bhandari inspired the community with his dedication to the Healing Arts Project (a partnership with Newgate Mission) and through his book, “The Faces of Newgate.”

Spring Melody

Spring Melody, which features a young girl blowing a dandelion whose petals transform into music notes, was created and painted by mother-daughter duo Wendy and Ava Arnold.

Books Make Dreams

Created by sculptor J.P. “Pat” Childress, Books Make Dreams features a young, Black girl exuberantly holding two books, both of which were written by Black authors. The bronze sculpture is meant to serve as a welcome to children who visit the library to engage in reading.

Color For Your Ears

Designed and painted by muralist Diego Baracaldo, Color For Your Ears depicts a woman playing the flute.

Flower Power

Designed and painted by muralist Dace Kidd, this mural depicts wildflowers that are native to East Texas.
